Out of the seven people in my dance class last year, I was third on pointe. Before I was put on pointe, I would watch the other girls tie their ribbons, and walk (rather awkwardly) toward the bar. It gave me great energy to watch them do exercises in their shoes. I was so excited when it was finally my time to have pointe shoes. I remember the other four girls looking longingly at us on pointe while we danced, and feeling so proud of myself. Our annual concert is Dancing in the Dust, because of the drought.
